Sony Panels at Cine Gear Expo

Sony Electronics will host some of the industry’s top cinematographers and other leading professionals in a series of panel discussions at Cine Gear Expo, June 1 – 4, at the Studios at Paramount in Hollywood.
The discussions will explore the creative and technical capabilities of Sony cinema cameras, including the VENICE 2, and provide insight into topics like color science, LUT development, and lighting. Additionally, Newton Thomas Sigel ASC will sit down with Oscar-nominated director of photography Lawrence Sher ASC to discuss his remarkable career in a live version of Shot Talk.
Other participants will include cinematographers Tommy Maddox-Upshaw ASC, Rob McLachlan ASC, Paula Huidobro, Dante Spinotti ASC and Michael Pessah ASC, color scientist Josh Pines, colorist Tony D’Amore.
The Sony Electronics booth (Stage 14 - S1412) will include a full set with a Gran Turismo car and embedded cameras for hands-on testing. Gear will include a helmet cam, a gimbal, VENICE 2 Extension Systems and other accessories.

A Conversation on Color Science
June 2 at 1:45pm in the Paramount Theater
Join renowned color scientist Josh Pines, and colorists Tony D’Amore and Ian Vertovec for a discussion on color science and the SONY VENICE. Pines will showcase the new Low Con Base LUT he developed for the Sony VENICE 2. Guests D’Amore and Vertovec will discuss their favorite work, including lessons and challenges they have learned working on various projects.
Shot Talk Live with Lawrence Sher ASC and Newton Thomas Sigel ASC
June 2 at 4:15pm in the Paramount Theater
ShotDeck presents Oscar-nominated director of photography Lawrence Sher ASC (Garden State, Joker) in a conversation with Newton Thomas Sigel ASC (Drive, Bohemian Rhapsody) for a retrospective on his filmmaking career including his experience on his latest series, Citadel, shot on the Sony VENICE 2.
Award-winning DPs share their perspective on the VENICE 2
June 3 at 11:30am in the Paramount Theater
Join cinematographers Tommy Maddox-Upshaw ASC, Rob McLachlan ASC, Paula Huidobro and Dante Spinotti ASC for a conversation on the look and experience with the Sony VENICE 2. The cinematographers will share images, clips, and their experience designing LUTs, lighting, and more with Sony’s flagship digital cinema camera.
Sony Cinema Line Mini Masterclass with Michael Pessah ASC
June 3 at 2:45pm in the Sherry Lansing Theater
Join Sony trainer Katie Eleneke and Director of Photography Michael Pessah ASC for a deep dive into Sony’s Cinema Line, including how to mix and match the cameras. Katie will break down the technical capabilities of the cameras while cinematographer Michael Pessah ASC will share practical advice on how he has used and matched the cameras. Pessah will also show clips.
