VIDEO: Up Close with Oscar Award-Winning Filmmaker Alex Gibney

With an award-winning career that spans more than three decades and includes over 30 documentary films, Director Alex Gibney has cemented himself as one of the premiere documentary storytellers working today. His extensive award collection includes three Primetime Emmy awards, an Oscar nomination, shortlisted for another Oscar and an Oscar win for his feature "Taxi to the Dark Side" (2007), which focused on a taxi driver who was tortured and killed at Bagram Air Base in 2002.

Gibney is known for bringing focus to stories, people, and events that are often swept under the rug. In 2010, Esquire Magazine credited him as "becoming the most important documentarian of our time" and his next film, Musk, which provides an unbiased view of the technology billionaire, is currently in production with it's sights set on a 2025 release.

We caught up with Gibney to learn more about his filmmaking style and his recent switch to the Sony BURANO.
