Shot on VENICE – Nike Japan – You Can’t Stop the Future

By: Jeff Berlin

This spot for Nike was lensed by DP Oliver Millar, who is based in New York and Tokyo and is no stranger to the VENICE camera. Millar also shot on VENICE the Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” music video, which won Video of the Year at the 2020 MTV Music Video Awards. An article about that project can be seen at this link:

He told us the following about his experience on the Nike project:

“The design of the VENICE Rialto is convenient and suits my operating style like few other cameras do. There is a balance to strike between the needs of the camera assistants and the right ergonomics for the operator, and by separating the sensor block and the camera body / raw recorder, we can have both without compromise.”

“Aside from the engineering of the camera, I appreciate the flexibility of the full-frame sensor. VENICE has more than enough modes and lens mount options to cover a world of different lenses including my favorites, Leica M's, which I used for this Nike commercial.”
