Sony BURANO Wows NAB 2024

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show has wrapped for 2024. Thousands of products and hundreds of companies showed up in Las Vegas, Nevada, to reveal new tech they are bringing to the entertainment and broadcast communities.
Each year, the show awards different manufacturers with its prestigious 2024 Product of the Year Awards. Selected by a panel of industry experts from 15 categories, the award celebrates the most significant and promising new products being exhibited on the show floor.
This year, Sony was awarded four awards, including three for the Sony BURANO digital cinema camera and one for the VERONA Crystal LED displays.
BURANO, A BEST IN SHOW
For NAB 2024, the Sony BURANO won Best Product in the Camera Category, Best Overall Product in the Create Category, and Best Overall Product in Top Tech.
These awards recognize that the BURANO can be not only a unique toolset for the filmmaking and creative community but also a disruption to how creatives think about cinema cameras.
For the Best Overall in Create Award, the Sony BURANO was chosen as the most significant contribution to creatives among all the cameras, lenses, support equipment, audio, and lighting tools presented at the show. This category also included post-production tools like VFX/image pipeline hardware and video editing suites.
But for the Best Overall Product in Top Tech, the BURANO was recognized as the leading product presented at NAB 2024. With over a thousand exhibitors from dozens of countries attending the show, this award signifies how groundbreaking the Sony BURANO has become.
Designed to handle both scripted and unscripted projects, be they commercial, wildlife, documentary, or narrative productions, the BURANO aims to push the boundaries of digital cinematography with incredible image quality, in-body image stabilization and expanded usability features such as internal variable ND filters, and industry-leading autofocus.
VERONA, A LEADING INNOVATION
Sony’s VERONA Crystal LED displays were awarded the Best Product in the Digital Signage and Display Systems Category. Announced only a few days before the BURANO, the Sony VERONA is a new LED display focused on supporting virtual productions.
Developed with the guidance of filmmakers, these Crystal LED displays utilize a new Deep Black and Anti-Reflection Surface Technology, which reduces contrast loss caused by neighboring panels of lighting equipment.
This award signifies the potential VERONA displays have in supporting filmmakers and creatives in the virtual production space.
